I get sent many of these types of articles (this is one of the good ones!) and most of them get thoroughly trashed by inserts from some influencer-type-personal-trainer advocating yet another 'easy' short term solution as a fix to the woes of the effects of being sedentary. You simply cannot change the fact that as human beings our bodies were simply not designed to be sedentary. Compromised lifestyle choices affect more than just the way you look - they affect your function, body and brain, your moods, your hormone balance, your metabolism and your sanity and your mental and physical resilience. Being perfect is not a great goal - but how about just being better than yesterday. Small lifestyle improvements that are manageable and maintainable can turn into lifestyle solutions that are sustainable longterm.
